Used to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders and works on both a physical and psychological level.
Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years.
In Ayurvedic medicine there are 108 Marma points, which are energy centres located throughout the body and these can become blocked, leaving your body out of balance. The head, neck and shoulders are important energy centres within your body with more than 37 marma points in these areas. Through massage, energies can become rebalanced and a general feeling of relaxation will be achieved. Indian head massage can improve blood flow to the head and neck, which increases the distribution of nutrients to encourage healing throughout the body.
Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis.
Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension and the experience can be deeply calming and relaxing, leaving you feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.
As well as being a relaxing encounter, it can also be an invigorating and refreshing experience. Following a treatment clients often report a ‘balanced’ feeling of peace and calm and will usually feel more alert and revitalised following a treatment.
Treatment is carried out to the upper back, across the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face and can be undertaken fully clothed without oil or with oil and wrapped in a bath towel.
